Who Is My Neighbor? is a resource we created to provide a basic introduction to Islam for Catholics. The first three chapters introduce readers to the origins, beliefs and practices of Islam. Chapters 4 and 5 discuss the issues of war, shari'a law and the role of women. The final chapter offers strategies for learning more, building relationships, and taking action for peace. 64 pp., with discussion guidelines and questions. Please take a look, and consider asking your parish to host a study series. Or invite friends to join you for an independent conversation. If you run into questions you can't answer during the study email us at sfrcmn@yahoo.com and we'll get an answer to you before your next session. In Minnesota we can also help facilitate in person. It skillfully uses Catholic cultural and religious experience to make Muslims’ beliefs, traditions and practices understandable. The book provides healthy guidelines for discussion and the questions at the end of each chapter invite good reflection and conversation. Who Is My Neighbor? is concise, readable, timely - and very much needed.” Gene A. Scapanski, S.T.D., retired Former Dean, School of Divinity University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, MN |
